Do you like discussing the merits of works of prose and poetry? Want to give a little back to the Elftown community? If you said "yes" to any of the above questions: submit an application explaining why you would make a great addition to the Literature Judges!

2014-08-04 [wicked fae mage]: Thank you for your applications! We are currently reviewing them and you will hear from us soon!

2014-10-09 [The Black Goat]: Would STRONGLY warn against applying unless you plan on kissing up to [windowframe], disagree with her and you automatically get fired :D

2014-10-09 [nehirwen]: I don't know what your fixation on Silvie is, but she has nothing to do with the lit judges anymore either.

2014-10-09 [The Black Goat]: I'm sure :)

(she wasn't one to begin with, yet there she was)

Since last I left the "code of lit. judges" page, she was helping develop policies regarding the lit. contests, I highly doubt she was asked to leave, seeing as anyone that disagreed with her was politely told that they couldn't be a judge anymore.

2014-10-09 [nehirwen]: She used to be one, and felt the need to step in because there weren't many active judges, and people were ignoring the guidelines, I don't see why being helpful is so horrible. Retired members butt in all the time, but trust me she won't help the lit judges again, after such a session I wouldn't either.
Besides, we have a mod now to prod people. :)

2014-10-09 [nehirwen]: Also, disagreeing with Silvie was absolutely not the reason why some people aren't a judge anymore, hard to believe for you as it is.

2014-10-09 [The Black Goat]: Seeing as every single argument had on that page involved her, I would suggest she isn't very helpful

but I edited my earlier post to include "& Co." since we shouldn't discount the rest of the crew there as well.

Again, you describe it as if it were everyone's fault but hers, that we must have ganged up on her. The only people who didn't get kicked were the two who consistently agreed with her.

2014-10-09 [nehirwen]: Only they didn't consistently agreed with her, you must have missed it because it was done in a civil manner. <_< also not saying she's to blame as well, everyone had their part, and hopefully the judges will have a healthy team now.

2014-10-09 [The Black Goat]: If by "civil", you mean, "stayed quiet and didn't try to make a case for their points if Silverfire was involved", but otherwise yeah, I'm sure it was just a weird coincidence that of the four people involved, only three were fired :)

"also not saying she's to blame as well"

Exactly that, unless you meant you "aren't saying she isn't to blame".

2014-10-09 [nehirwen]: They made their points and got listened at too, sorry you missed that. What about 'not getting involved anymore' don't you understand? I count that as 4 of 4.

Err, yeah, I meant isn't. :p

2014-10-09 [The Black Goat]: "What about 'not getting involved anymore' don't you understand?"

It's less so a lack of understanding, and more of a "I don't believe you"

I remain highly doubtful that she received the same messages the rest of us got, considering everyone on the council is a friend of hers =D

2014-10-09 [nehirwen]: If you choose not to believe me that's your problem, not mine. Have a nice day. :)

2014-10-09 [The Black Goat]: You too

2014-10-09 [Mortified Penguin]: "she has nothing to do with the lit judges anymore"

Psh, she has everything to do with everything. She's basically Elftown's secret vice mayor now and she's still got her privs and is plaguing all the crew forums as well.

2014-10-09 [The Black Goat]: Just because there isn't an official title for her doesn't mean she's not pulling strings behind the scenes

2014-10-09 [Nioniel]: Oh no! Someone with the skills and the know-how occasionally steps in to help out when and where it's needed, and this is a problem how? I'm sorry if you have issues with Silvie, Nox, but "pulling the strings behind the scenes"? I promise you there's no "behind the scenes"; when Silvie helps out, it's noticed and appreciated by the rest of the crew. Also, if she wasn't wanted in the crew forums, then she wouldn't be there, so obviously she's not "plaguing" them by having a presence there. Unlike, say, someone who occasionally breaks into the forums to sneak around uninvited. >.>

2014-10-09 [The Black Goat]: Skills and know how? That's a bit of a stretch. She said herself she's just waiting for this site to die.

Of course, just about all of the crew is in her pocket anyway, just a giant circle jerk while ET loses members without gaining any active new ones.

2014-10-09 [Nioniel]: Well, that obviously means that she had no clue what she was doing all of those years as a crew member and vicemayor. Completely invalidates her work and experience, I'd say. How dare she have an opinion about how things are now versus how they were back then. >.<

I'm sorry, I haven't heard your opinion on this a million times already and on several different pages. A circle jerk, you say? Obviously you know all of us based on our own merits, and you're not just assuming that based off of your irritations. And you're certainly not lumping us all together despite never ever interacting with several of us. Maybe those arguing your side are all in your pocket? Or you're in one of their pockets, and you guys have a circle jerk? If you think it goes one way, it must be able to go the other. Or else we all just have our own opinions based on what we see and hear and read and know, and sometimes those opinions happen to line up with what someone else's are? If everyone had taken your side, I doubt you would have said that we were all in your pocket and that you'd have any issue with it. ET's member basis and activity relies more on regular members being active than the crew pulling in new members, too. Of course, if the crew had all of their friends sign up to be new active members, I doubt you'd be glad for that, because they'd just end up in Silvie's pocket too, right?

2014-10-09 [Flisky]: Nox and Nio, this is definitely not the place to do this. Just a friendly suggestion that this not be continued.

2014-10-09 [The Black Goat]: Hey Flisk, nice to see you here :) weren't you fired too today? Oh, and bullied into quitting the council after a disagreement involving silverfire?

What's interesting is that, so far outside of crew and council, I've yet to hear a single good word about Silverfire, and that was before I even met her. She was just as much at fault for what went down during the judging, but her crew is there to push it under the rug and blame the other three people involved. Ddge the question, insist she isn't a part of the lit. judging anymore while she is there making decisions about how the contests are run.

Shady stuff, shady people. When people outside the crew are looking in and going "wtf?" And no one that isn't a friend of the current group is allowed to join, there is a problem. :) Guess that makes y'all something like a corrupt government. Not that you have a lot of civies to rule over since most have been driven away. Hell, if it weren't for the wiki pages I'd have stopped coming here along time ago, as would a lot of other players.

2014-10-09 [Mortified Penguin]: You're right, Nio, I guess it is hard to plague a rotting corpse. Just be glad the rest of Elftown can't see what the crew says about them all behind their backs. I don't think they'd appreciate it as much as I do.

Anyway, like Flisky suggested, let's take this lovely conversation over to Bob's Diner, home to thousands and thousands of wasps! Come on down today! And please, get stung to death.

2014-10-09 [The Black Goat]: For someone that isn't officially crew, Silverfirw sure gets around and has a lot of weight to throw around.

2014-10-09 [Sunrose]: There's never been a rule that a retiree is not allowed to help out anymore, I don't understand the fixation on that status.

The reason you may not have heard good things about Silverfire might be because you have mostly been in contact with people who were in conflict with her.
Also, people who are actually happy about Silverfire's work don't tend to write homages in their diaries or wherever, whilst people who disagree will probably rant about it somewhere.

The person who quit council was addressed for a number of issues, one of which was actually bullying. So it's quite interesting that the decision to quit is being turned into 'being bullied to quit'. It sounds like information was shared amongst each other, to then form some kind of front against the evil crew who are all just puppets of Silverfire.

I also don't see how her waiting for the site to die means she has no skills and know-how concerning Elftown. Maybe she's just realistic, having actually done a lot of work here.

The insinuation that it's crew who has actually driven away 100.000 people is just..sigh. I'd say it's actually been the people who have driven crew away. Because you know, the people can be real assholes to crew who put their free time and effort into the site. They don't owe you anything.

2014-10-09 [Mortified Penguin]: And I never asked them for anything! I try to run Elftown myself, out of the goodness of my heart, but the crew keeps getting in my way.

2014-10-09 [The Black Goat]: Its easy to spot her supporters for sure, too bad they are all from the same group :)

2014-10-09 [Sunrose]: Shut up Mort :P

Oh grow up Nox.

2014-10-09 [Mortified Penguin]: I just wanna be vice mayor. ;-;

2014-10-09 [Sunrose]: Then stop trolling!

2014-10-09 [Mortified Penguin]: And build a glorious Mort statue on Mainstreet.

NEVER!!

2014-10-09 [The Black Goat]: Hey, I wasn't the one who thought I'd be cute and post underhanded comments on the lit judge code page.

But favoritism is favoritism, and no matter how many friends she has on the council, the rest of ET hates her XD

2014-10-09 [Mortified Penguin]: Oscar Wilde once said, "It isn't trolling if they're right! So Mort is totally not a troll, just a misunderstood wood elf."

He was truly a wise man. *earnestly eats a cucumber sandwich*

2014-10-09 [Nioniel]: Nox, you seem like a real peach and everything, but, y'know, I think it's really great that you speak for the rest of ET. All this time I was wondering how literally everyone outside of the crew feels about Sivie (and various other things), so it's nice to not have to wonder anymore, now that you've stated it so clearly.

That kind of comment is cruel and hurtful, and genuinely unnecessary. Maybe mean people like you are the ones driving others away with comments like that?

2014-10-09 [Mortified Penguin]: Comments can't drive, silly, they don't even have licenses.

2014-10-09 [The Black Goat]: I tend not to be mean to people who haven't already taken a shot at me, and those people usually tend to be assholes to begin with, but nice try.

Maybe I'd feel bad if I had just started this up out of no where, just for the hell of it, but seeing as how Silverfire decided to insult me (albeit beneath the radar instead of outright) and no one seemed to mind then, I don't think I'll lose any sleep over it.

2014-10-09 [Nioniel]: Aw, thanks, I tried really hard. But you are obviously right about everything and no one else gets to have an opinion that doesn't agree with yours, so I guess there's no point in trying to have a conversation with you.

2014-10-09 [The Black Goat]: That's exactly what talking to her is like, yes.

Spot on.

2014-10-09 [Sunrose]: She made comments on that wiki over a month ago referring to particular parts of the discussion on the haiku contest that seemed to form the biggest issues. She didn't bring them up to take a stab at you because you were one of the people involved, she brought them up to illustrate why she thought there's a need for a different approach.
You already spoke your mind about it on that wiki.
As you said you don't believe whether or not we have discussed amongst ourselves our own part in the turn of events. So it has no use in commenting on your accusation.

I don't understand what is so funny about hatred and why you would want to spend your free time hating on someone on a website with only 300 people. We're not in kindergarten anymore.

2014-10-09 [Mortified Penguin]: HEY, STOP IGNORING MY HILARIOUS QUIPS, YOU GUYS!

*breaks down and cries on his desk in the corner of the classroom, because he's grumpy that he forgot his snack pudding and has to take a nap, even though he doesn't want to*

2014-10-09 [The Black Goat]: "And frankly, when you've got people who can't count syllables and have serious trouble identifying metaphors, I think it's reaaaaally important that those discussions take place."

This was posted today (last night? I'm deployed so my time zone is way off) and was an obvious jab at me referring to the more intense debates we had. That is what set this off, before that I didn't have much of a problem with Silverfire, other than that I never wanted to judge a lit contest with her in it ever again.

2014-10-09 [Mortified Penguin]: Yesterday, technically, according to Elftown time.

2014-10-09 [Sunrose]: Gah sorry, I read the date wrong..I read '8th of August'..my brain read it the Dutch way >_<
Why do you assume it was a 'jab' at you though? Especially since you never had a problem with her before that..

2014-10-10 [Sagacious Turkey]: Ew, the Dutch way. *shivers*

2014-10-12 [Doormat]: Mort - "I hope senpai will notice me"

ps I sniffed the drama all the way to here. The ride never ends!

2014-10-15 [Lakayana]: Just wondering when this will end. Must all elfs get to know that there's a problem in the council? Now quarrels and loud arguments are been noticed in almost every spot around town. Maybe I'll end separating a fight one of this days

2014-10-23 [Sagacious Turkey]: Except Bob's Diner. It's the only completely drama free wiki on Elftown. It's like a peaceful utopia where everyone can have fun and enjoy themselves!

Except minorities.
